The good news keeps coming for Bull.
The Michael Weatherly drama, which was renewed Thursday for a second season, is adding Buffy the Vampire Slayer grad Eliza Dushku in a major role, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.
Dushku will play J.P. Nunnelly, the savvy head of the best criminal defense firm in New York, who is hired by Dr. Jason Bull (Weatherly) when a member of his Trial Analysis Corporation team faces prison time.
The actress is currently set for a three-episode arc with an option to become a series regular in the just-ordered second season. Her first episode will air May 9.

Based on the trial consulting days of daytime host Dr. Phil McGraw, Bull has been a strong performer for CBS all season. Led by Weatherly, fresh off a 12-year run on the network’s procedural NCIS, the cast also includes Freddy Rodriguez, Geneva Carr, Jaime Lee Kirchner, Annabelle Attanasio and Christopher Jackson.
Going into its sophomore season, Bull is preparing to change showrunners, with Glenn Gordon Caron taking over for Mark Goffman. CBS TV Studios produces.
Bull will mark Dushku’s biggest broadcast role since she headlined the Fox sci-fi dramas Dollhouse and Tru Calling. Her other roles include Bring It On, True Lies and Banshee. She is repped by Paradigm, Silver Lining Entertainment and Jackoway Tyerman.
