    I'm going to laminate these then put them on my visual timetable next to the activity and draw the time on with board pen so it can be adjusted!

    Good resource.However, I wish that the 'Please don't print me' page wasn't there. Makes it quite a faff when finding and printing resources quickly.

How can I use these Blank Clock Face Worksheets in my classroom?

Use these teacher-made worksheets to help your children practice telling time on analogue clocks.

Perfect for kids in EYFS through KS1, this pack contains six printable clock faces. We've included hour markers around the outside, but no hour or minute hands, which means you can customise them however you like.

Here are a few ways of using our blank clock face worksheets:

  • Laminate the clocks and use a dry-erase marker to draw different times. Then, point to each clock one by one, and invite your class to call out the times you've drawn;
  • Have your class make hour and minute hands out of play dough. Then, call out six different times ("quarter past five," or "four o'clock," for example) and invite your students to display them by positioning their hands into the correct position;
  • Ask your class to draw what time they have breakfast, lunch, and dinner on our blank clock faces. This is a great way to build children's understanding of time, as well as routines and organisation.

The blank clock face worksheet is on PDF, making it easy to download and print at the click of a button. There are multiple versions of the worksheet, which means you can tailor the resource to your unique lesson plan! For example, if you're running low on coloured ink, you can print out the black and white version. Or, if you have a mixed ability, you could print out the lower ability version. This one features four blank clock faces, with minute increments. There's also a version that's the same as the main one, but also with minute increments. If you're interested in a Roman numeral version, be sure to check out the 'user request'. Oh - which reminds us, if there's a specific activity you'd like to see from Twinkl, simply leave us a comment! After all, we strive to offer what you need.

Your first stop should be our Teaching Wiki on Analogue Clocks

This Make a Clock Face Activity is another excellent way to develop children's time-telling skills. Designed for KS1 Maths lessons, this hands-on resource invites kids to make an adjustable clock face by cutting and pasting the parts provided. They'll paste the numbers one through 12 onto the blank clock face, then attach minute and hour hands with a paper fastener. Perfect for stations, centres, and independent study.

If you teach EYFS children, you might also like to try our Blank Analogue Cut-Out Clock (with Hands). This printable resource includes a blank clock face, as well as hour and minute hand cut-outs.

Or, how about our Telling the Time on Analogue Clocks PowerPoint? This teacher-made resource is a great way of introducing the topic to lower-grade children. It begins by showing students how clocks work, then moves onto a series of interactive practice exercises. Your class must study the clock faces provided before guessing the times they're displaying. Perfect for whole-class learning.

Fun facts about clocks

Here are five fun (and surprising) facts about clocks. Why not impress your class with them in your next time lesson?

  1. The world's most expensive clock sold for $6.8 million in 2012.
  2. "Clock" comes from the Latin word "clocca," which means "bell."
  3. The world's oldest clock is housed in Salisbury Cathedral, England. Historians believe it was built in 1386!
  4. According to a recent poll, 6 a.m is the most common alarm call, with 8% of all Americans waking up at that time.
  5. The phrase "o'clock" is an abbreviation of "of the clock."
