Description:

Lily Karadada
(b.c.1937)
Wandjina 2007
Acrylic on canvas
The Rainmaker Wandjina is in her cave with her cave rocks. She sends down the rain for people to live. She has no mouth, but when you go into her caves you can hear her whispering (the noise of wind in the caves where many of the Wandjina figures appear). This one is a proper pretty one - for luck. Provenance Comes with a Certificate of Authenticity from Our Land Gallery, Kununurra, WA, cat. no. LK1. The Professor Gordon H Packham Collection of Aboriginal Art. Gordon Packham, University of Sydney, made a substantial contribution to our knowledge and understanding of the geology of New South Wales. He assembled this collection over more than sixty years and it is reflective of the deep connection he had with Australia's natural landscape as a geologist.
