Mercedes-Benz goes premium with revised Vito and eVito vans

Mercedes is aiming squarely at the premium market with its commercial van strategy, with the revised Vito models eventually giving way to its new modular and scalable Van Electric Architecture — a move expected in 2026. With such a diverse customer base — from luxury camping with the V Class Marco Polo to cost-focussed multi-drop delivery customers using the eVito — this strategy will be able to cover the needs and requirements of business and leisure customers alike.

The front end of the Vito and eVito has been updated to give a more distinctive design. A striking contemporary grille sits atop a more muscular-looking bumper, flanked by LED headlights, while the rear has an updated style thanks to a unique aesthetic created by darkened rear lights.

Revised Vito and eVito models have had a significant update inside, with a digital-first design across the range. The driver is greeted by an entirely revamped instrument panel featuring a crisp 5.5-inch digital screen nestled between traditional analogue dials. A large 10.25-inch infotainment screen sits in the centre of the dashboard, which has also had a stylish makeover — gone are the vast swathes of dull grey plastic, replaced by a sleek new look.

MBUX (Mercedes-Benz User eXperience) is installed on the Vito range for the first time. The system allows the driver to create their own profile, which can intuitively suggest infotainment, comfort, and vehicle function options. Up to seven profiles can be synchronised on each vehicle, each recording items such as the user's last navigation destination or favourite radio station, which would be handy for shared vehicles.

MBUX responds to voice commands; a simple ‘Hey Mercedes’ phrase sets the system into action, which can then control functions around the vehicle and operate the infotainment system and navigation.

Other equipment new to the Vito includes wireless phone charging, a keyless start function, a heated steering wheel, and an electric parking brake, although some items will be optional.

Mercedes has also taken the opportunity to upgrade the Vito’s suite of safety equipment. The Active Brake Assist system, for instance, now incorporates an intersection mode, which can preemptively alert drivers to crossing or oncoming vehicles and take emergency action if necessary.

Standard safety features now include driver alertness monitoring, automatic headlights (now with rain sensors), cruise control, blind-spot assist, lane-keeping assist, speed assist, and a reversing camera. Optional driver aids include adaptive cruise control with route-based speed adjustment and extended automatic restarting in traffic jams, active steering assist, speed limit assist, a 360-degree camera, and a comprehensive parking package complete with parking assist, rear cross-traffic alert, pedestrian-detecting emergency braking, and drive-away assist.

“We want to offer the most desirable vans and services and play a pioneering role in e-mobility – from MPVs to motor homes and commercial vans,” head of sales and marketing at Mercedes-Benz Vans, Klaus Rehkugler, commented. “Our new midsize van models are another step towards achieving this goal. The more mature luxury positioning of the EQV and V-Class and the sharpened premium character of the eVito and Vito will enable us to increase our focus on high-margin regions and industries.”

Neil Lovelock was super helpful and patient with me whilst I was deciding on my new car. I had the option of going direct or through Neil at SCL, and chose SCL because of how helpful Neil had been. He was on hand and quick to help with any queries I had, with my old car and the new one. I absolutely love the car it’s exactly what I was hoping for. Thank you very much Neil!
