Hot on the heels of the toilet gaming PC, Chinese case maker MetalFish decided to combine a PC case with an aquarium.
"What could possible go wrong?" I hear your cry. Well, dead fish and concerns over electrocution aside, if you wanted a case with a bit more "life," this certainly ticks that box.
It's called the Y2 Fish Tank Chassis and consists of an aluminum PC case on the bottom and 5mm-thick glass fish tank on the top. MetaFish believes the addition of fish to the case will "make people feel relaxed and calm," although I'd argue having expensive PC components sitting underneath all the water could make remaining calm difficult.
The dimensions of this $75 case (including the tank) are 370-by-250-by-290mm and it's possible to fit either a Micro- or Mini-ITX motherboard inside. There's enough space for a 90mm CPU cooler, and the recommended maximum length for the graphics card is 200mm. However, if you don't fit a fan that length increases to 220mm. RGB lighting is also included, along with a remote to control it.
As Tom's Hardware points out, this isn't MetalFish's first desktop PC aquarium. The Fish Cube case was a first attempt, and you can clearly see the company has refined the design and overall look with the Y2.
The one decision that surprises me (apart from anyone deciding this was a good idea for a case), is the lack of an overhang for the glass aquarium. As it's flush with the case below, any water that runs down the side of the tank will inevitably end up inside the PC when it reaches the aluminum grill.
