We’re proud to announce our collaboration with Girl Scouts of the Sierra Nevada for the groundbreaking "Manufacturing for Clean Energy" patch program, the first of its kind nationwide. Throughout April, we've provided young women from the local chapter with hands-on experiences, inspiring them to pursue STEM careers and fostering a more inclusive industry. We'd especially like to thank Senator Jacky Rosen for sending a representative to attend to learn more about this program and opportunities for young women in STEM fields. Together, we're shaping a brighter future for the next generation of leaders to drive positive change in their communities. Read more here: https://lnkd.in/eqi9BmVH

Syrian American PENA team member Fadi Bahhady has always been passionate about technology and streamlining efficiency. The Life at PENA blog caught up with him during Arab American Heritage Month (April) to chat about his career at PENA, and the impact his experiences with Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging have had on his life and his passion for advancing technology. Q: Tell us about your career path at PENA? A: When I first started with Panasonic my role was as Digital Solution Architecture Manager. My primary responsibility was the technology infrastructure over the manufacturing side as well as managing the MES (Manufacturing Execution System). In 2023, I moved into my current role as Manager of Enabling Technologies…my primary responsibilities are the proliferation and adoption of Microsoft Technologies. Q: How has your culture and background contributed to the way you view your workplace and work with others? A: As a Syrian who lived most of his life in the UAE (United Arab Emirates) before moving to the states and becoming an American citizen. I feel very fortunate that I lived in the UAE because of the diverse cultural makeup of the county… 80% of the country is made up of expats from all over the world, so with that you get all the exposure to their cultures and the way they do things, so I feel very blessed about that. Q: What project or accomplishment at PENA are you most proud of? A: The project I am most proud of (during my time as Digital Solution Architecture Manager) was when my team migrated the MES system from being on physical servers to a virtualized environment. They’ve added stability to the MES system that we rely on…and also added…a lot of flexibility for my system administrators to manage the system better by putting patches and upgrades, etc. In my current role…it’s our intranet project, what we call the Power Hub. (Power Hub) gives people access to information…we’ve used other kinds of technologies (for communication) but with the intranet I see that this is the best way forward for us to communicate to our wide group of people here. So that gives (team members) access to the intranet as well as many other tools to help with collaboration with their colleagues. #lifeatpena #manufacturing #internship #inclusion #dei #deib #arabamericanheritagemonth

Shift Schedules and Impactful Experiences | Catching Up with Skilled Machine Operator Rosa Hurtado Rosa Hurtado was inspired to join Panasonic Energy after watching her daughter grow while working at the company. Rosa shared her experiences on diversity and belong at PENA and how the production shift schedule has been a positive side to her role. Q: Here at PENA, we have non-traditional production shift schedules. What have been the benefits of having a nontraditional work schedule? Having a nontraditional work schedule has helped me have more days to be with my family I have a grandson that I get to see for longer periods of time and sometimes sleep over because my schedule allows that. I also support my daughter in a way so that she can find time for herself. Q: How has diversity, equity and inclusion influenced your career path at PENA? It has taught me many values that others in PENA with different cultures use and completely changed my perspectives leading me to become a better employee. Q: How has working with a diverse team influenced your experience at PENA? A diverse team can offer you an impactful experience on you personally. For me an experience that I had was during potlucks all the different foods and recipes brought and shared have made me feel a part of a family and felt such honor to share that with my team members.
