Walking through some Costa Rico rainforest, I heard some rustling and spied some movement in the undergrowth. <br />

By quietly dropping to the ground and filming under and around a fallen branch, I could see this foraging Agouti.<br />

      From what I remember, I think it took a minute or so to detect me, before it immediately disappeared into the distance.

      I was quite surprised by its size.

The Central American agouti is a species of agouti from the family Dasyproctidae. The main portion of its range is from Chiapas and the Yucatan Peninsula, through Central America, to northwestern Ecuador, Colombia and far western Venezuela.
