7 1/2" x 3" Resin Reproduction Wandjina
The Wandjina, also written Wanjina and Wondjina and also known as Gulingi , are cloud and rain spirits from Australian Aboriginal mythology that are depicted prominently in rock art in Australia. Wandjina is the most significant Creation Spirit, associated with rain and therefore the seasonal regeneration of the land and all natural resources. The body of Wandjina is often shown covered with dots that represent the rainfall. Associated with the creation of the world, artwork dates to around 4,000 years ago. Dreamtime stories tell how the Wandjina created the landscape and its inhabitants, and continue to influence both. When the spirits found the place they would die, they painted their images on cave walls and entered a nearby waterhole. The concept of the Dreamtime has subsequently become widely adopted beyond its original Australian context and is now part of popular culture.
I've imbedded an Authentic Green Emerald in its chest, Emerald is a life-affirming stone. It opens the heart chakra and calms the emotions. It provides inspiration, balance, wisdom, and patience. It is said to promote friendship, peace, harmony, and domestic bliss by enabling the wearer to both give and receive unconditional love.
Onyx is also an option which is a protective Stone and better resembles the original ancient paintings.
Note: Stones and feathers may vary in size.
It also has two feathers as can be seen on some of the ancient rock art. Feather symbolism usually represents angels, ascension, wind, and a connection to the Higher Realms.
