Dade Battle Reenactment in Bushnell a glimpse of life in 1835

BUSHNELL — The Dade Battle Reenactment is taking place this weekend at the Dade Battlefield Historic State Park in Bushnell. The living history camps and demonstrations and vendors last 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, with the actual battle taking place at 2 p.m. This year's reenactment of the Dec. 28, 1835 battle that kicked off the Second Seminole War is dedicated to John Griffin. Griffin is a sitting Groveland council member and a veteran reenactor of black Seminole descent.
