Overall, I've been very impressed with this mouse. The design is sleek and stylish, it fits my hand extremely well, and all the customizable buttons are great. I don't care about the IM and email buttons, so the fact that those don't work is not a downside for me. I just use the buttons for other things. Probably my favorite feature is using the left/right scroll button for switching between tabs in my browser. The keystroke combinations (Ctrl+Tab for right, Ctrl+Shift+Tab for left), which you can set for the buttons, works for either Firefox or IE 7. Interestingly, the drivers that come with the mouse work better than the "updated" drivers available on Logitech's website.
I give the mouse 4/5 stars for using a 2.4 GHz transmitter. It's ridiculous they'd use 2.4 GHz, when that's the frequency wireless routers use. I have two of these mice, one at home and one at work. We don't have a wireless router at work, and that mouse hasn't had problems yet. I do have a wireless network at home, and that mouse has had a few minor "jitter" problems, as well as temporarily forgetting its settings. I'm going to get a USB extension cable so I can put the receiver closer to the mouse and see if that helps.
Other than that, it's a great mouse, and I'd recommend it to anyone.

Has survived a DECADE of all-day use, still my favorite mouse ever with no new replacement options.
To everybody who is concerned with the longevity of this mouse... I bought this mouse in 2006 and I'm still using it every day at work (8+ hrs/day, 5+ days/wk) in 2016.So far the only button that has stopped working is the mouse wheel left tilt, but I have yet to open it up to investigate whether the switch is actually gone bad or is just dirty. I have used this thing so long that my hand has worn through the silver paint on the palm rest and the left click and I've rubbed all the way through the soft-touch rubber coating on the sides of the mouse where my thumb and ring finger rest.For what I paid a DECADE ago for this thing new (about $50 I think, hard to remember), I believe I got more than my money's worth. The reason I found this mouse on Amazon just now is that I'm planning ahead for if this mouse ever stops working completely and I can't find ANY mouse, logitech or otherwise, that entices me with full volume buttons and an otherwise simplistic, ergonomic design (at least not enough to buy). I really think this is the best mouse I've ever used and I really wish Logitech would come out with a newer version with volume buttons on it. I use these buttons dozens of times every day for years and years and I can't imagine living without them. It will be a sad day if my mouse ever totally dies and my best option is to pay $200 for a "new" decade-old mouse because all the new ones can't compare...Looking at you, Logitech. Re-make this mouse with a unifying receiver and I will gobble that up in a heart beat.
