Viggo Mortensen forgot about the Amazon LOTR series

We’ve learned Aragorn actor Viggo Mortensen forgot the Amazon LOTR series exists, silly news via a new interview.

The new interview revealed Viggo Mortensen forgot the Amazon LOTR series is actually happening, as his responses show he either never heard of it or doesn’t care.

When asked if he was going to watch The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, actual king among men Viggo said:

“What is that? The TV thing? It is with Apple, or something?”, Mortensen asked with genuine curiosity.

The interviewer then reiterated the new series is being produced by digital giant Amazon, and is likely to be the most expensive series to date.

This is where it’s made clear Viggo Mortensen forgot the Amazon LOTR series was being produced, in my humble opinion.

“Oh, right. Yeah, I’ll watch that. But do you know what source material they’re using? What were they allowed to use?”, Viggo replied.

As covered in our previous report, Amazon got the rights to produce the prequel series despite restrictions on the original licenses from the Tolkien Estate.

The interviewer then reiterated it’s a prequel set in the second age, during which Viggo’s Aragorn will see his ancestors make an appearance.

“Oh, that’s cool! Yeah, It’ll be fun to see,” Viggo said.

The rest of the interview talks up Viggo and David Cronenberg’s exciting sci-fi body horror movie, Crimes of the Future, in which Mortensen is starring. Crimes of the Future is premiering on June 3, 2022.

The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power is set to premiere exclusively via Amazon Prime Video on September 2nd, 2022.
