Abutilon x suntense

Abutilon xsuntense Brickell (= A. ochsenii (Philippi) Philippi x A. vitifolium Presl; Corynabutilon xsuntense (Brickell) Fryxell) (cult.) – An exceptional garden escape (perhaps more likely a garden throw-out), found once in 2006 in a wood-margin near Gent. This locality was subsequently destroyed. In a private garden in Bever, where this hybrid is grown as an ornamental, selfsown individuals are sometimes recorded.

Abutilon xsuntense is a hybrid between two Chilean species, but hardy in climatologically mild areas (withstands –5 to –10°C).
